SOUTH AFRICAN PAYE CALCULATOR – 2027 TAX YEAR
Use our free PAYE Calculator South Africa tool to estimate the PAYE deducted from your salary and get an indication of your monthly take-home pay for the 2027 tax year. You can also include qualifying retirement contributions and medical aid members to see how these may affect your estimated tax.
What is PAYE?
PAYE (Pay As You Earn) is the income tax your employer deducts from your salary and pays to SARS on your behalf. The amount is calculated according to your earnings and the tax rates applicable to you.
Certain factors, such as your age, medical aid membership and qualifying retirement contributions, can affect how much PAYE you pay.
Simply put, PAYE allows you to pay your income tax gradually throughout the year instead of settling your entire tax bill at the end of the tax year.
2027 Tax Year Dates
The 2027 tax year runs from 01 March 2026 to 28 February 2027.
How Does the PAYE Calculator Work in South Africa?
This calculator allows you to enter your current gross salary, whatever Retirement Annuity you are paying for OUT OF POCKET (not received as a benefit from your employer), as well as the number of beneficiaries, including you, on your medical aid (should you have one). The calculator assumes your minimum medical aid contribution per beneficiary is at least R1000 per month where the maximum tax credit benefit is gained.
